Versatile Grain and Veggie Salad Recipe

It’s Greenmarket Grains Week! We are so fortunate to live in an area where we can get a wide variety of local grains and flours. We rarely buy this stuff at the store anymore, but if we do, we stick to the bulk section and King Arthur Flour (relatively local and employee-owned).

This salad will make you love grains and dark, leafy greens. I wish I were eating it right now for breakfast.

Produce Profile: Sunchokes

Sunchokes are our new obsession. They’re sweet and crispy raw and roast up nicely. Erik eats one or two almost every day in his lunchtime salad.

Today was an early day at the Union Square Greenmarket. Lindsay had an event for work, so I was shopping alone today. On my first pass through for browsing I got a few pictures, but once I started buying my hands were too full to take any more!

How to Make Applesauce and Apple Butter

With so many great-looking apples at the market this weekend, my mind has gone totally apple-centric. I can’t stop thinking about all the great apple desserts – pie, crisp, crunch, cobbler, turnovers…mmmmm.
